Tips for Proper Feeding
Feed hygiene: Preferably use feeders or feeding columns where birds cannot walk directly in the feed. This prevents contamination from droppings and protects against infections.
Choosing a Location: Place the feeding spot in an open area with enough distance from hiding places for predators. Nearby trees or bushes give the birds a place to fly in and retreat.
Background on Year-Round Feeding: Native birds face structural challenges: due to the decline of fallow land, intensified agriculture, and the sealing of natural spaces, the natural food sources (seeds and insects) have significantly decreased in many regions of Central Europe.
