Natural clay flour with 76% montmorillonite for increasing water retention and building clay-humus complexes
SNOEK's bentonite is a high-quality, swellable clay flour with a montmorillonite content of 76%. The clay mineral has a large internal surface, binds water in the crystal interlayers, and increases the cation exchange capacity in the soil. It promotes the formation of stable clay-humus complexes and prevents nutrient leaching in sandy substrates.
Your benefits at a glance:
High swelling capacity and water retention: The three-layer clay mineral montmorillonite can absorb up to eight times its own weight in water and stores it in a form available to plants. This improves the drought resilience of crops and reduces irrigation needs.
High cation exchange capacity (nutrient retention): Binds nutrient cations (like calcium, magnesium, and potassium) to its negatively charged surfaces, protects them from being washed away by rainfall, and releases them to plant roots as needed.
Promotes clay-humus complexes: In combination with organic matter, bentonite in compost and soil forms stable aggregate structures (clay-humus complexes). This improves pore volume and provides an ideal habitat for soil microorganisms and earthworms.
